First off, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to each of you that left a comment for my mom on my post about Napoleon. While it will take a long time for her to deal with his sudden passing, she was very touched by every comment and I know that it will help as she begins the healing process. We’ll miss Napoleon so much, but we are truly humbled by the outpouring of love from you guys. Truly….you all are amazing!
After a rough couple of days dealing with the giant hole in our hearts left by Napoleon’s passing, I thought it would be a good idea to get out into nature and enjoy the unseasonably warm weather we’ve been having. So naturally, I called up Crystal from Wayward Dogs to join Ginger and me for a hike at the Overland Park Arboretum. She brought her dog Luke and foster Minnie along with her.

Crystal and I are planning on starting our own dog walking group, like Chicago Sociabulls or Hikeabull, very soon, so we were excited to check out the Arboretum. We were not disappointed – we saw varying landscapes from prairie fields to high bluffs to rivers in the woods…

Ginger enjoyed checking out every little thing and letting me know what she thought of her surroundings…

Luke, Minnie, and Ginger were enjoying their walk together, although they had to act too cool for school when we tried to document it.

And too for school when we came across this statue…

And Ginger was too cool for school when I tried to get a photo of the two of us…

But regardless of Ginger’s too-cool-for-school attitude, we had a great time…and Ginger was so pooped on the ride home, she fell asleep sitting up.

We must, must, must get this group started soon! I need to have exhausted pooches like this more often! If you are in the KC area and interested in getting emails about our soon-to-start dog walking group, let me know in the comments and I will add you to the list!

I love taking nature walks! And I still think that’s such a great idea to get a dog walking group together. Good for the people, good for the dogs–it’s definitely a win-win!

Or…you could just wait until I move out near you and we could join that group you said already exists out there….deal?

My Latest Excuse
What if a person doesn’t have a dog but desperately wants one but that person’s apartment complex won’t let them have one? Could that person come on the walks and get their dog/nature/bestie fix?

So great to see you having a good time with the pups! Also, we had a similar situation this weekend – a friend and I took our 3 dogs walking at a beautiful forest preserve, which happened to be packed! There were tons of dogs, and Rufus as well as my friend’s dogs are leash reactive. Long story short, everyone was understanding and we ended up walking in a small, harmonious groups with some strangers – it was lovely.

So great! It looks like our initial walk too. I bet there also might be some rescue pooches itching to stretch their legs and join your group. So excited to see how it goes!
